At its monthly meeting Monday, the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the $34,174 purchase of a forestry mower from Bobcat of Janesville. 

At its monthly meeting Monday, the Rochelle Township High School District Board of Education held a public hearing for and unanimously approved its 2024-2025 budget.

Over the weekend of Sept. 13-15, the Annual Creston Booster Days festival was held in Creston. Friday featured a steak fry in the park, a beer garden, Skinners’ Amusements and The Killer Bs on Stage.

Over 60,000 people attended an event in Rochelle at the Global III intermodal facility on Sunday that featured The Union Pacific Railroad’s Big Boy No. 4014 train engine, City Director of Community Engagement Jenny Thompson said. 

On Monday, the 24th Annual Rochelle Community Hospital Foundation golf outing was held at Fairways Golf Course in Rochelle. The day saw sunny weather after dealing with rain for the past two years on play days.

Rochelle Community Hospital’s wellness committee works to improve the health of its employees. The committee has been revived this year post COVID-19 pandemic to implement regular initiatives to offer staff education, events, and ideas to improve their lifestyles.

Best of Ogle County 2024 voting is completed and winners of each category are currently being contacted. The winners section will come out in the Rochelle News-Leader on Sunday, Oct. 6 and in the Ogle County Life on Monday, Oct. 7.

Rochelle Community Hospital and Dr. Kendall Vogeler of its Family Healthcare Clinic started prenatal/postnatal shared-care obstetrics (OB) offerings in January 2021.

The grants were awarded at RACF’s Granting Futures event, hosted April 24 at Luna.
