ROCHELLE — Rochelle Township High School District #212 and Rochelle Community Consolidated School District #231 recently announced that Celeste Canfield has been hired as a shared English language learners (ELL) director for both local districts.

Mrs. Canfield has been the elementary school district’s ELL Director for the past two school years. Prior to that, Mrs. Canfield served as Central Elementary School’s principal for several school years.

Regarding her shift to working for both Rochelle school districts, Canfield said, "I am excited to continue to serve the Rochelle community and its students by working with both districts’ students, teachers, and administrative teams. I appreciate the opportunity to continue to ensure all students are showing meaningful growth while preparing for a successful future after high school."

“Mrs. Canfield has played a pivotal role in all aspects of leading an effective program for students who are English learners. Additionally, Mrs. Canfield has been part of the elementary school district’s dual language immersion program since its inception eight years ago. Her expertise and experience will help create a better transition for all of the community’s EL and dual language learners,” Superintendent of Rochelle Schools Jason Harper said.

“We are immensely proud of Celeste Canfield and what she has accomplished with the elementary team of teachers and staff. She is dedicated to work in helping all students achieve and has a passion for the Rochelle community. We wish her continued success as her professional role shifts to encompass a preschool to high school perspective,” Trisha Vaughn, president of the Rochelle Community Consolidated School District #231 school board, said.

Mrs. Canfield has been with the Rochelle Community Consolidated School District #231 since 2016. Before becoming a school administrator, she was a teacher and bilingual interventionist. Mrs. Canfield resides in Oregon with her husband, Andrew, and two daughters, Mia and Lucie.
