Ogle County 4-H Fair cat award winners announced

Posted

OREGON — This year’s Ogle County 4-H cat show was held at the Ogle County Farm Bureau in Oregon on Monday, July 22. Cats are judged on their physical condition, cleanliness and presentation, temperament, appearance, good health, alertness, and graceful movement. 4-H’ers receive ratings based on their knowledge about the care and grooming of their entry and the cat itself. Special awards are given to the 4-H'er with the best-decorated cages or carriers. Please see below for the results of the show.

Champion Junior Showmanship - Isaac Williams, Forreston. Champion Intermediate Showmanship - Andrew Hickman, Byron. Champion Senior Showmanship - Grant Johnson, Forreston. Champion Feline - Saul Daniels, Rochelle. Champion Cage or Carrier - Lauren Hickman, Byron.

4-H fairs are held nationally to allow youth to exhibit a product that has resulted from an in-depth yearlong study in an area of interest to them. 4-H'ers have worked hard to get here. They enter the fair to receive feedback regarding their work and to gather ideas for what they can do differently or expand upon in their project areas in future years.
