ROCKFORD — The Rochelle 561 Sluggers 11U baseball team went 2-1 over three games to take second place in the 2024 Rockford Rumble at the MercyHealth Sportscore on June 2.
Rochelle teed off the tournament with a 9-5 win over the Glen Ellyn Rebels. Brayson Bouland went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, while Brecken Bruns went 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs scored. Roberto Bugarin added one RBI to aid the 561 Slugger offense in the win.
Rochelle fell just short in its second game of the tournament, falling 9-8 against the Bison Outlaws Vegas 11U squad. Landon Johnson singled and scored two runs for the Rochelle side, while Brayson Bouland, Roberto Bugarin and Remy Hunley each added hits in the loss.
The 561 Sluggers finished strong, clinching second with a 5-1 win over Greenfield Farms. Roberto Bugarin went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Landon Johnson scored two runs and drew two walks. Bentley Etes pitched six innings and struck out eight batters for the win.
