SYCAMORE — The Rochelle Hub varsity tennis team continued Interstate 8 Conference action against Sycamore on Wednesday, falling 5-0 on the road with all five losses coming in straight sets. The Hubs (2-2, 0-2 Interstate 8) will continue conference play at Kaneland on Thursday.
Sycamore took both singles matches on Wednesday. Senior Jimmy Chavez took one game in a 1-6, 0-6 loss against Steven Chen at the No. 1 singles court, while freshman Connor Hunley claimed three games in a 2-6, 1-6 loss against Regan Ni at the No. 2 singles court.
The Spartans won all three doubles matches. Seniors Parker Lenkaitis and sophomore Mark Green were swept 0-6, 0-6 against Liam Kerbel and Alex Jenkin at No. 1 doubles, while seniors Eli Luxton and Austin Raleigh were swept in a 0-6, 0-6 loss against Jonathan Locacsio and Joe Culotta at No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Caleb Mortensen and senior Alex McBride took three games in their 3-6, 0-6 loss against Javi Lopez and John Riley at the No. 3 doubles court.
