ROCHELLE — Senior forward Sydney Thorne scored a second-half goal to help the Rochelle Lady Hub varsity soccer team avoid an Interstate 8 shutout against Morris on Thursday.
The Redskins held a 7-0 halftime lead and ultimately defeated the Lady Hubs 8-1 to hand Rochelle its eighth consecutive loss. Senior Danica Ward and freshman Adyson Carter combined for 11 saves for the Lady Hubs (0-8, 0-4 Interstate 8), who play at Morris on Monday.
The Redskins outshot Rochelle 19-13 and 12-4 in shots on goal during Thursday’s match. Junior Makayla Lara led the Lady Hubs with six shots and one shot on goal, while Thorne followed with five shots and one shot on goal. Junior Jeanette Valle added two shots.
