Rochelle Little League held the Major League Girls Division championship on Friday, with Salinas Chiropractic defeating First State Bank 3-1 to clinch this season’s title and finish the season undefeated. The tournament semifinals were held on Thursday evening.

Little League: Salinas Chiropractic wins 2024 Major League Girls Division title

Undefeated season concludes with 3-1 victory over First State Bank

ROCHELLE — Rochelle Little League held the Major League Girls Division championship on Friday, with Salinas Chiropractic defeating First State Bank 3-1 to clinch this season’s title and finish the season undefeated. The tournament semifinals were held on Thursday evening.

Hailey Chapman went 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI to lead the Salinas offense, while Cali Metzger went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Lily Erickson doubled for First State Bank’s lone hit in the game. Natalie Isley pitched five innings with six strikeouts for the First State Bank side, while Cali Metzger threw six innings with 13 strikeouts to lead the Salinas side to victory.

First State Bank took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, where Mayson Smardo walked and scored after a throw to first base on a dropped third strike. Salinas Chiropractic tied the score after Shyne Walker’s RBI groundout plated Hailey Chapman in the bottom of the second inning. Cali Metzger’s RBI double and Chapman’s RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning brought home two runners, including Annalyce Harris, to give Salinas Chiropractic a 3-1 lead.

Semifinals

Salinas Chiropractic cruised over Fit Hub 18-3 in the semifinal round on Thursday. Annalyce Harris went 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI on the Salinas side, while Hailey Chapman scored three runs. Jaelyn Gonzales, Cali Metzger, Leni Haedt and Teriana Walker Burton all scored twice for Salinas. Berkeley Thompson went 2-for-2 on the Fit Hub side, while Tinley Tabor went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Mariyah Peters and Sofia Reynolds each added hits.

First State Bank outlasted Midwest Signs & Designs 19-18 in an offensive battle. Madelynn McRoberts went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBIs for First State Bank, while Kallie McRoberts went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Natalie Isley and Mayson Smardo each went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Gracie Spartz went 4-for-4 with three runs. Deyonna Wallace went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Lilyan Erickson went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Molly Whiting scored five runs and pitched six innings with nine strikeouts for the Midwest Signs & Designs side. Makayla Waters went 4-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Sofia Rosales went 2-for-2 and Emilyn Voight went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Isabel Jackson went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and Helen Miller went 1-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.
