DIXON — Senior Ella Alfano and freshman Dylan Etes combined for three hits and four RBIs to lead the Rochelle Lady Hub varsity softball team against the Dixon Duchesses on Tuesday.

Alfano went 2-for-4 with two singles and two RBIs, while Etes singled and added two RBIs as the Lady Hubs fell to the Duchesses 15-5 on Tuesday. Sophomore Madigan Williams went 2-for-4 and scored two runs for the Lady Hubs (5-17, 0-10 Interstate 8), who will conclude the regular season with a nonconference road game against the Streator Bulldogs on Thursday.

Williams singled and scored in the top of the first inning to give Rochelle a 1-0 lead. The Lady Hubs surged ahead in the top of the second inning, where three players including Alfano, Etes and freshman Emma Heller recorded RBI singles. Dixon tallied its first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning, where Elly Brown doubled and scored on a passed ball.

Freshman Briel Metzger singled to spark a one-run frame for Rochelle in the top of the third inning, where Alfano collected her second RBI with a single to right field. Trailing 5-1, Dixon exploded for seven runs on four singles, four walks, one triple and two errors in the bottom of the third inning. The Duchesses followed their stellar third frame with four runs on two singles, one double and two more Rochelle errors in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 12-5 lead.

Dixon sealed its win with three runs on two doubles, one single and one walk in the bottom of the sixth inning. Heller pitched three innings and struck out four batters for the Lady Hubs, while Metzger tossed two and one-third innings. Rochelle will host the IHSA 3A Regional, with the seventh-seeded Lady Hubs slated to face the top-seeded Sycamore Spartans on Tuesday.
